Examples of Specific Aim in a sentence

  • It is anticipated that during the 2013-2014 fiscal year, the work to be carried out at the Georgiou lab will focus primarily, but not exclusively on Specific Aim 1.

  • The two-hybrid peptide libraries contain the same peptide structures and sub-cellular localization sequences as described in Specific Aim 1 and Appendix A.

  • Aeglea LLC will sponsor research in the laboratory of Professor ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, Depts of Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and Molecular Biosciences on the engineering, optimization and initial animal validation of human enzyme therapeutics for the following purposes: Specific Aim 1.

  • The protein targets identified above (Specific Aim 2 and 3.1) will be screened for additional interactions with other proteins by yeast two-hybrid technology (Appendix D).

  • This process represents a reverse of what was described earlier in Specific Aim 1 and is illustrated in the left-hand side of Figure 1.

  • Total lysates were collected and analyzed via Western blots as described in Specific Aim 1.

  • The cell cycle control proteins defined above will be screened in a yeast two-hybrid assay for interacting binding peptides (as described in Specific Aim 3.2).

  • The use of mAbs in other established models of autoimmunity (Specific Aim 3) would test the possibility that the mAbs are working through immunological mechanisms.

  • Specific Aim 3 (testing of therapeutic efficacy in other established models of autoimmunity) may have a very important impact into the marketing of this mAb. If the mAb has an effect immunologically as well as directly on the CCS, it may be applicable to other established autoimmune diseases.

  • These interacting peptides will be introduced into selected tumor cell lines to assess effects on cell cycle and sensitivity to chemotherapeutic treatments as described in Specific Aim 1.

More Definitions of Specific Aim

Specific Aim. 2: Explore the relationship between self-care and health outcomes (functional capacity, symptom burden, and HRU) in ACHD. H2: Controlling for heart defect severity and number of comorbidities, lower levels of self-care will be associated with:
Specific Aim. 1: To evaluate the relationship between HIV-positive pregnant women in Zambia and the role and influence that their Christian faith has on HAART adherence. We will hold key informant interviews and surveys with 508 HIV- positive pregnant women as well as 100 identified Christian leaders who actively engage in counseling HIV-positive pregnant women through ministry within Lusaka. These interviews will assess the viewpoints, perceptions and opinions about HAART and how adherence is affected by religion. Specific Aim 2: To improve HAART adherence among HIV-positive pregnant women. We will create and implement trainings that are culturally appropriate to 100 Christian leaders within Lusaka, Zambia. These trainings will strengthen counseling skills among local religious leaders who routinely counsel HIV-positive women in the course of their work. Christian leaders who work at a community level and understand the benefits of HAART will then be able to encourage adherence within a religious framework. This will affect the long term adherence of HAART by HIV-positive pregnant women. Research Strategy
Specific Aim. 1: In vitro testing of anti-S1P Mab’s ability to reduce S1P-dependent cell proliferation and metastatic potential.
Specific Aim. 1: Design, fabricate, and characterize ultrasound probes for transrectal BH studies. We will simulate nonlinear HIFU fields generated by transrectal probes with different geometries to design a transducer capable of operating in shock-forming conditions relevant to BH. Parameters of FDA-approved HIFU devices (e.g. Ablatherm and Sonacare) will be used as a starting point to meet clinical constraints for prostate treatments and power limitations of the system. Based on design calculations, a transrectal prototype probe integrated with a miniature ultrasound imaging probe will be constructed for ex vivo and preclinical studies in canines. The integrated device will include the imaging system (B&K 3000 commonly used in urology practice), the transrectal HIFU transducer (fabricated by a vendor per our specifications) and the computer-controlled driving electronics (E&I power amplifier and function generator). Acoustic characterization of the HIFU probe will be performed in water, including hydrophone measurements in linear and nonlinear regimes and acoustic holography. The holography measurements will be used to set a realistic boundary condition for rigorous numerical modeling to predict nonlinear acoustic fields and temperature fields in prostate tissue (▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ 2015).
Specific Aim. 1: Test the target-specificity of hybrid peripheral CB1R/iNOS inhibitors by analyzing their anti-fibrotic efficacy in mice with genetic deletion of CB1R or iNOS, using the subcutaneous bleomycin-induced skin fibrosis model. This approach would help Licensee to evaluate the relative contribution of the two targets to the therapeutic efficacy of the hybrid inhibitor.
Specific Aim. 2: Use linear and logistic regression to model the relationship between connectivity to home behaviors again the outcomes: a) depression and b) severity of depression. This research is important because it can potentially shape the way that we understand how immigrants experience cross-border connections and what the implications are for their mental health. The findings from this project can also provide a guide for health care providers in helping immigrants to overcome depression, and what specific connectivity behaviors to look for in a patient. Although each immigrant and the region that they come from have unique cultural manifestations of mental health issues, it is critical to understand the broad behaviors that are indicative of possible depression across all immigrant groups.
