Penal definition

Penal means relating to the punishment of offenders under the legal system; subject to punishment by law.
Penal. Code means the penal Code, 1860 (Act No. XLV of 1860);

Examples of Penal in a sentence

  • Disqualifying criminal history: Any conviction or other criminal history information designated by the District, or one of the following offenses, if at the time of the offense, the victim was under 18 or enrolled in a public school: (a) a felony offense under Title 5, Texas Penal Code; (b) an offense for which a defendant is required to register as a sex offender under Chapter 62, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure; or (c) an equivalent offense under federal law or the laws of another state.

  • If the Principal/Owner obtains information on the conduct of any of its employees which is a criminal offence under the Indian Penal code (IPC)/Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (PC Act) or is in violation of the principles herein mentioned or if there be a substantive suspicion in this regard, the Principal/Owner will inform the Chief Vigilance Officer and in addition can also initiate disciplinary actions as per its internal laid down policies and procedures.

  • Harassment under Penal Code 42.07(a)(1) of a student or district employee.

  • If the Principal/Owner obtains knowledge of conduct of a Bidder or Contractor, or of an employee or a representative or an associate of a Bidder or Contractor which constitutes corruption within the meaning of Indian Penal code (IPC)/Prevention of Corruption Act, or if the Principal/Owner has substantive suspicion in this regard, the Principal/Owner will inform the same to law enforcing agencies for further investigation.

  • If the Principal/Owner obtains information on the conduct of any of its employees which is a criminal offence under the Indian Penal code (IPC) / Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (PC Act) or is in violation of the principles herein mentioned or if there be a substantive suspicion in this regard, the Principal / Owner will inform the Chief Vigilance Officer and in addition can also initiate disciplinary actions as per its internal laid down policies and procedures.

  • The CORPORATION will be entitled to take all or any of the actions mentioned at para 6.1(i) to (x) of this Pact also on the Commission by the TENDERER or any one employed by it or acting on its behalf (whether with or without the knowledge of the TENDERER), of an offence as defined in Chapter IX of the Indian Penal code, 1860 or Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 or any other statute enacted for prevention of corruption.

  • Committed or attempted to commit a sexual assault as defined in Section 261, 266c, 286, 288, 288a, or 289 of the Penal Code or committed a sexual battery as defined in Section 243.4 of the Penal Code.

  • Chemical dispensing device is defined by Penal Code 46.01 as a device designed, made, or adapted for the purpose of dispensing a substance capable of causing an adverse psychological or physiological effect on a human being.

  • Conduct that constitutes coercion, as defined by Section 1.07, Penal Code; or4.

  • Education Code 25.002(d)In addition to the penalty under Penal Code 37.10, a person who knowingly falsifies information on a form required for a student’s enrollment in a district is liable to the district if the student is not eli- gible for enrollment, but is enrolled on the basis of false infor- mation.

  • Imprisonment means confinement in the county jail.

  • PAGA Penalties means the total amount of PAGA civil penalties to be paid from the Gross Settlement Amount, allocated seventy-five percent (75%) to the LWDA and the twenty-five percent (25%) to the Aggrieved Employees in settlement of PAGA claims.

"MOBILISATION" shall be considered to have been achieved, if the CONTRACTOR is able to establish infrastructure as per Time Schedule, where so warranted in accordance with agreed schedule of work implementation to the satisfaction of ENGINEER-IN-CHARGE/ EMPLOYER.

  • CAISO Penalties means any fees, liabilities, assessments, or similar charges assessed by the CAISO for (a) violation of the CAISO Tariff and all applicable protocols, WECC rules or CAISO operating instructions or orders or (b) as a result of Seller’s failure to follow Prudent Electrical Practices. “CAISO Penalties” do not include the costs and charges related to Scheduling and imbalances as addressed in Section 14.1 of this Agreement.

  • Punitive Damages are those damages awarded as a penalty, the amount of which is neither governed nor fixed by statute.

  • Compensatory Damages are those amounts awarded to compensate for the actual damages sustained, and are not awarded as a penalty, nor fixed in amount by statute.

  • Actual Damages has the meaning set forth in Section 12.4(C).

  • Indirect Taxes means value added taxes, sales taxes, consumption taxes and other similar taxes.

  • Statutory Penalties are those amounts awarded as a penalty, but are fixed in amount by statute.

  • Criminal history means the list of a defendant's prior

  • Economic damages means objectively verifiable monetary losses, including medical expenses, loss of earnings, burial costs, loss of use of property, cost of replacement or repair, cost of obtaining substitute domestic services, loss of employment, and loss of business or employment opportunities.

  • Late Payment means any amount that is due and payable by law under a written procurement contract, without deferral, delay, or set-off under COMAR 21.02.07.03, and remains unpaid more than 45 days after an agency receives a Proper Invoice.

  • Surcharge has the meaning set forth in Section 11(a).

  • Delay Damages means the damages assessed pursuant to Section 3.2(a) hereof.

  • Late Payment Surcharge shall have the meaning ascribed thereto in Article 10.3.3 of this Agreement;

  • Environmental Damages means all claims, judgments, damages, losses, penalties, fines, liabilities, encumbrances, liens, costs and expenses of investigation and defense of any claim, including, without limitation, attorney’s fees, that are incurred at any time as a result of the existence of Environmental Conditions upon, about or beneath the Project Site or migrating or threatening to migrate to or from the Site, and including, without limitation:

  • Censure means an expression of disapproval of a licensee's or registrant's professional conduct, which conduct is not necessarily a violation of this act or a rule promulgated or an order issued under this act.

  • Total organ dose equivalent (TODE) means the sum of the deep dose equivalent and the committed dose equivalent to the organ receiving the highest dose as described in 641—40.86(1)“f.”

  • Son or daughter of a covered servicemember means a covered servicemember's biological, adopted, or foster child, stepchild, legal ward, or a child for whom the covered servicemember stood in loco parentis, and who is of any age.
