Heavy Materials Clause Samples
The "Heavy Materials" clause defines the responsibilities and procedures related to the delivery, handling, and use of materials that are unusually large, heavy, or difficult to transport on a project site. Typically, this clause specifies which party is responsible for the logistics, special equipment, and any additional costs associated with moving or installing such materials, such as structural steel beams or large mechanical units. By clearly allocating responsibility and outlining procedures, the clause helps prevent disputes and ensures that the challenges associated with heavy materials are managed efficiently and safely.
Heavy Materials. An Employee shall not be required to lift a building materials in excess of 20 kg in weight unless such Employee is provided with a mechanical aid or with an assisting Employee; provided that an Employee shall not to manually lift any building materials in excess of 20 kg weight to a height of more than 4 feet (1.2m) above the working platform.

(b) Where two (2) hour fire rated blocks are required, blocks with dimensions of 290cm by 190cm by 140cm must be used.
(c) Where possible building materials with a weight less than 14kg should be designed and used on construction projects.
(d) At the design stage, blocks which reduce the risks of manual handling injuries i.e. lighter building materials must be sourced.
(e) Mechanical lifting devices, work planning, job layout, delivery of materials and good housekeeping are controls which should be considered to further reduce manual handling risk associated with heavy building materials.
