FUSES Clause Samples
The 'Fuses' clause defines the requirements and standards for the installation and maintenance of electrical fuses within a property or facility. It typically specifies the types of fuses to be used, their ratings, and the responsibilities for ensuring they are properly installed and replaced as needed. For example, it may require that only certified fuses matching the equipment specifications are used and that faulty fuses are replaced promptly by qualified personnel. This clause ensures electrical safety, prevents equipment damage, and reduces the risk of fire or electrical hazards by mandating proper fuse management.

7.2 The fuse-link carriage shall be suitable to accept either 254 mm or 359mm long fuses both with a diameter of 63,5mm. The carriage shall be adjustable for this purpose and shall not necessitate additional parts.
7.3 Automatic shutters shall be provided to safeguard against inadvertent contact with live parts when the fuse carriage is removed.
7.4 Three spare fuses in addition to the three fuses supplied with the fused oil switch shall be supplied with each unit. The rating of the fuses will be specified in the Detail Technical Specification.
FUSES. For all enclosures except NEMA 7 & 9, fusible switches rated 100 through 600 amperes at 240 volts and 30 through 600 volts shall have a UL approved method of field conversion from standard Class H fuse spacing to Class J. fuse spacing. The switch also must accept Class R fuses and have provisions for field installation of a UL listed rejection feature to reject all fuses except Class R. The UL listed short circuit rating of the switches shall be as required by design calculations when Class R or Class J fuses are used with the appropriate rejection schemes. The UL listed short circuit rating of the switch, when equipped with Class H fuses, shall be 10,000 rms symmetrical amperes. For NEMA 1 and 3R enclosures; 800 and 1200 ampere switches shall have provisions for Class l fuses and shall have a UL listed short circuit rating as required by the design calculations.
FUSES. Where fuses are used, at least one extra fuse of each type and rating used shall be supplied and attached to the applicable units of the equipment. Panel-mounted fuse posts shall be such as to permit renewal of fuses without use of tools.
FUSES. A. Provide all fuses as required. Fuses shall be rated for voltage applied, non- renewable, dual elements, cartridge type, unless otherwise noted.
FUSES. A. Provide all fuses as required. Fuses shall be rated for voltage applied, non- renewable, dual elements, cartridge type, unless otherwise noted.
9. DRY TYPE TRANSFORMERS
A. Furnish and install dry type transformers to provide 120/208 volt, 3-phase, 4-wire power as required.
B. Transformers shall utilize a Class H insulation and shall comply and must be tested in accordance with the requirements of NEMA, ASA and AIEE standards. Transformers shall have ventilated enclosures for natural draft cooling and designed for indoor installation.
C. Transformers shall have universal voltage taps; (4) 2-1/2% below normal and (2) 2% above normal.
FUSES. 6.10.1 Fuses shall comply with BS 2692.
6.10.2 Fuse links shall be of the striker pin type, hermetically sealed and shall be suitable for use under oil.
6.10.3 The fuse link carriage shall be suitable to accept either 254mm or 359mm long fuses both with a diameter of 63,5mm. The carriage shall be adjustable for this purpose and shall not necessitate additional parts.

FUSES. All low voltage fuses for disconnects must be current limiting UL class J, RK1, or RK5 and of the appropriate voltage, delay or non delay characteristic, and current rating to provide both complete short circuit and overload protection per NEC sections regarding component protection. Fuses in the combiner boxes protecting PV string branch circuits must be UL class CC midget type, be in “shock-safe” type fuse holders “touch safe”, providing load break disconnect capabilities when changing fuses. Midget fuses and fuse holders used in these circuits must be fully DC rated and adequate DC short circuits withstand capability must be provided for all power situations including “back-fed” conditions. All fuses and other protective devices and holders must be engineered to safely protect system components under “worst case” expected field conditions including temperature extremes. PV panel strings must be individually protected from short circuit conditions that may originate within the panels themselves.
