Base jurisdiction means the member jurisdiction, selected in accordance with the plan, to which an applicant applies for apportioned registration under the plan or the member jurisdiction that issues apportioned registration to a registrant under the plan.
Home jurisdiction means the jurisdiction that issued the driver's license of the traffic violator.
Reference Jurisdiction means, in respect of the Reference Currency, the country (or countries of the currency block) for which the Reference Currency is the lawful currency.
of any specified Person means any other Person directly or indirectly controlling or controlled by or under direct or indirect common control with such specified Person. For the purposes of this definition, "control" when used with respect to any specified Person means the power to direct the management and policies of such Person, directly or indirectly, whether through the ownership of voting securities, by contract or otherwise; and the terms "controlling" and "controlled" have meanings correlative to the foregoing.
Non-Cooperative Jurisdiction means any foreign country that has been designated as noncooperative with international anti-money laundering principles or procedures by an intergovernmental group or organization, such as the Financial Task Force on Money Laundering, of which the U.S. is a member and with which designation the U.S. representative to the group or organization continues to concur;
Court of competent jurisdiction means a federal court, or a state court that entered an order in a child custody proceeding involving an Indian child, as long as the state court had proper subject matter jurisdiction in accordance with this chapter and the laws of that state, or a tribal court that had or has exclusive or concurrent jurisdiction pursuant to 25 U.S.C. Sec. 1911.
Other state means a state or territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, and the
Taxing Authority means any domestic, federal, national, state, county or municipal or other local government, any subdivision, agency, commission or authority thereof, or any quasi-governmental body exercising any taxing authority or any other authority exercising Tax regulatory authority.
Actions or Proceedings means any action, suit, proceeding, arbitration or Governmental or Regulatory Authority investigation or audit.
Pertinent Jurisdiction in relation to a company, means:
Remote state means a member state other than the home state, where a licensee is exercising or seeking to exercise the compact privilege.
Action or Proceeding means any action, suit, proceeding, arbitration, Order, inquiry, hearing, assessment with respect to fines or penalties, or litigation (whether civil, criminal, administrative, investigative or informal) commenced, brought, conducted or heard by or before, or otherwise involving, any Governmental or Regulatory Authority.
Juvenile court means the district court of this state.
the City means the City and County of San Francisco, a municipal corporation, acting by and through both its Director of the Office of Contract Administration or the Director’s designated agent, hereinafter referred to as “Purchasing” and [insert name of department].
Judicial Authority means any court, arbitrator, special master, receiver, tribunal or similar body of any kind.
Supreme Court means the North Carolina Supreme Court.
sitting means, in relation to a House, a period during which that House is sitting continuously without adjournment, and includes any period during which the House is in committee;

Venue means the premises as delineated and shown edged red in Annex A.
Indirect Losses means loss of profit, loss of business, loss of business opportunity (in each case whether direct, indirect or consequential) or any other claim for special, consequential or indirect loss of any nature;
Official proceeding means any proceeding before a legislative, judicial, administrative, or other governmental agency or official authorized to take evidence under oath and includes any proceeding before a referee, hearing examiner, commissioner, notary, or other person taking testimony or a deposition in connection with an official proceeding.
bodies governed by public law means bodies that have all of the following characteristics:
Do-not-resuscitate order means that term as defined in section 2 of the Michigan do-not-resuscitate procedure act, 1996 PA 193, MCL 333.1052.
Direct Losses means damages, losses, indebtedness, claims, actions, costs (including the cost of legal or professional services, legal costs being on an indemnity basis), expenses, liabilities, proceedings, demands and charges whether arising under statute, contract or at common law, but excluding Indirect Losses;
with respect to any Person means any security, right, subscription, warrant, option, "phantom" stock right or other Contract (other than such Person's preferred stock) that gives the right to (a) purchase or otherwise receive or be issued any shares of capital stock or other equity interests of such Person or any security of any kind convertible into or exchangeable or exercisable for any shares of capital stock or other equity interests of such Person or (b) receive any benefits or rights similar to any rights enjoyed by or accruing to the holder of shares of capital stock or other equity interests of such Person.
Original Jurisdiction means, in relation to an Obligor, the jurisdiction under whose laws that Obligor is incorporated as at the date of this Agreement or, in the case of an Additional Obligor, as at the date on which that Additional Obligor becomes Party as a Borrower or a Guarantor (as the case may be).
