Annual flood definition

Annual flood means a discharge (Q) or flood flow event that occurs at a high frequency, i.e., there is greater than a 50% chance of a flood stage (<Q2) of at least this level occurring in any given year.

  • Base flood means the flood having a one percent chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year.

  • 100-year flood means a flood that has a 1-percent or greater chance of recurring in any given year or a flood of a magnitude equaled or exceeded once in 100 years on the average over a significantly long period.

  • Area of special flood hazard means the land in the floodplain within a community subject to a one percent or greater chance of flooding in any given year.

  • Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) means the land in the floodplain subject to a one percent (1%) or greater chance of being flooded in any given year, as determined in Article 3, Section B of this ordinance.

  • Semi-annual (2/Year) sampling frequency means the sampling shall be done during the months of June and December, unless specifically identified otherwise.
