The WORK PERIOD / OVERTIME clause defines the standard working hours and the conditions under which overtime is recognized and compensated. Work Period Overtime. 10.1 The work period for employees shall be a period of fourteen (14) consecutive days and the regular work schedule during that period shall consist of eighty (80) hours.
A. Employees assigned to eight (8) hour work days will work five (5) consecutive days followed by two (2) consecutive days off.
B. Employees assigned to twelve (12) hour work days will work a rotating day off schedule allowing for four (4) or five (5) consecutive work days followed by four (4) or five (5) consecutive days off.
C. Employees assigned to ten (10) hour work days will work four (4) consecutive days followed by three (3) consecutive days off.
D. Except in the case of an emergency, no other work cycle or schedule will be implemented by the University until the conclusion of negotiations over those proposed work cycles or schedules.
10.2 Employees shall be compensated at time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of eighty (80) hours in a work period. Compensation shall be in the form of cash, unless the employee and the Director agree that the employee shall receive compensatory leave. Any compensated leave or time off as provided for by this Agreement shall be considered as time worked in the computation of overtime. However, in the event that more than three (3) hours of such leave is taken on the day overtime is worked, the overtime hours will be reduced by the amount of leave taken.
10.3 An employee’s workday shall not be split into two (2) or more segments without the agreement of the employee, except in a declared emergency or to meet unforeseen law enforcement needs.
10.4 An employee shall be given fourteen (14) days notice of a change in the employee’s work cycle, work hours, or days off except if agreed to by the employee or in a declared emergency or to meet unforeseen law enforcement needs. .
10.5 An employee who rotates to a different shift shall receive a minimum of twenty four (24) hours off between the end of the current shift assignment and the beginning of the new shift assignment except in case of a declared emergency or to meet unforeseen law enforcement needs.
Work Period Overtime. Every other pay period (28-day cycle) employees will receive guaranteed work period overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Work Period Overtime. Forty (40) hours per week or eighty (80) hours within a fourteen (14) day period shall be considered the normal work week. Eight (8) hours shall be considered the normal work day, exclusive of the thirty (30) minute meal period. Hours actually worked in excess of eight (8) hours in one (1) day or forty (40) hours in one (1) week (eighty (80) hours in a fourteen (14) day period) shall be paid one and one-half (1 1/2) times the normal straight-time rate.
Work Period Overtime. The regular workday will generally be seven and one-‐half (7.5) to eight (8) hours, although individual employee workdays may vary. An employee who works in excess of eighty (80) hours during the two (2) week pay period, in excess of eight (8) hours in any twenty-‐four (24) hour work day, or in excess of eight (8) consecutive hours shall be paid at one and one-‐half (1.5) times the employee’s regular rate of pay for all hours so worked. Full-‐time and part-‐time employees shall normally work up to ten (10) days per pay period including every other weekend and have alternate weekends off. Employees shall not be required to take time off in lieu of overtime pay.
Work Period Overtime. Pursuant to the F.L.S.A., overtime is based on hours worked in excess of one hundred fourteen (114) hours during a fifteen day (15) work period. Sworn, non-management fire employees assigned to suppression duty shall be paid one hundred twenty (120) hours (five (5), 24 hour shifts in a fifteen (15) day work period) straight time and six (6) hours half-time (120 -114 = 6). The six (6) hours of half time shall not be affected by vacation and sick usage. The Administrative Fire Captain works a forty (40) hour schedule and is, therefore, not eligible for the work period overtime.
