Common use of Without Pay Clause in Contracts

Without Pay. With reasonable written notice leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority will be granted: (1) to an elected or appointed representative of the Union to attend conventions of the Union and bodies to which the Union is affiliated; (2) for elected or appointed representatives of the Union to attend to union business which requires them to leave their general work area; (3) for employees who are representatives of the Union on a bargaining committee to attend meetings of the Bargaining Committee; (4) to employees called by the Union to appear as witnesses before an arbitration board or the Labour Relations Board; (5) to employees designated to sit as observers on a selection panel in accordance with Clause 12.3; (6) for employees selected for a full-time position with the Union or anybody to which the Union is affiliated for a period of three years;
