Vacation Bid. It is understood that, on the 30th of September, the Employer will inform the Employees of the amount of weeks of vacation that they are entitled to. By the 31st of October, the Employees must advise the Employer of how many weeks of vacation they will be taking. By the 15th of November, the vacation bid will be held. By the 1st of December, Employees will be advised of their vacation. Therefore, the vacation bid process will continue as present practice. However, an employee who did not show up as scheduled to choose his/her vacation period can show up in the next five (5) working days and bid on what vacation dates are left. Failing to do so, the Company shall assign his/her vacation period.
Vacation Bid. One person per side of the week is allowed for the first half of the year. Officers and sergeants shall be allowed to sign for two contiguous weeks during the first bid. One officer per all of patrol shall be allowed for the second half of the year. Officers can select from any available slot for the entire year during vacation bid. Officers can select additional vacation time after the mid-year (July) shift change. Sergeants may, with the approval of the Division Commander, allow a team member to take additional vacation time, as long as it is projected that the team will be at or above minimum staffing levels at the time the vacation is approved.
Vacation Bid. 11.4.1 All vacation bids will by means of an Electronic Bidding System. 11.4.2 If for any reason the Electronic Bidding System is not functional then the vacation bid will be by means that is approved by both the Company and the Union. 11.4.3 All vacation bids shall be posted for a minimum of ten (10) calendar days. 11.4.4 Vacation bids shall be published twice per Vacation Year; once in the spring and once in the fall. Vacation bids must be submitted by electronic means prior to a date set by the Company. The deadline shall be reference Toronto Local Time. 11.4.5 Vacation shall be awarded based on the FCMs seniority within their Permanent, Seasonal or Deployed Base and their Status as either a Captain or First Officer. 11.4.6 Notwithstanding the Collective Agreement, a FCM must bid their vacation entitlement in accordance with the Company’s instructions. A FCM shall not be financially penalized for vacation that has been accrued as a First Officer but awarded as a Captain. 11.4.7 Any vacation entitlement remaining after the spring vacation bid shall be carried forward to the fall vacation bid. If, due to operational requirements, the Company is unable to award a FCM remaining entitlement during the fall bid that entitlement shall be carried over to the following bid period or at the request of the member be paid out in accordance with the collective agreement. 11.4.8 A FCM on LOA, STD, LTD or Maternity/Parental leave with a known return to service date shall participate in the Vacation Bid/Award process. 11.4.9 All FCMs that have accrued at least ten (10) Days vacation will have the opportunity to bid at least one (1) week in either season. 11.4.10 Notwithstanding 11.4.9 the Company, based on operational requirements, reserves the right to limit vacation availability in any season or period. 11.4.11 The Company, based on operational requirements, reserves the right to limit the number of Trainer FCM’s on vacation in any vacation block. 11.4.12 A vacation block will consist of five consecutive Days. Vacation Bid. Nothing in the above formula shall limit the Director’s ability to grant additional time off based on staffing levels. All reasonable efforts will be made to grant a Telecommunicator’s request for any time off unless the denial is necessary for minimum staffing requirements and operational needs.
Vacation Bid. A. The vacation bid will take place in March, with effective dates of May 1 through April 30 of the following year. The Employer has the right to determine the number of vacation slots open for bidding. However, the Employer shall not revoke any vacation slots (blocks or single days) that are either given back or go unbid, prior to fifteen (15) days of the vacation block or single day starting. Days selected are guaranteed days off. Operators may bid in one (1) week segments (Sunday through Saturday). Operators may combine general leave days, compensatory time and observed or floating holidays for bidding purposes. Part-time A board Operators may bid up to eight (8) days of general leave, regardless of the amount of leave they have accrued at the time of the bid. If A board Operators have insufficient leave available when they take their vacation, they will take the time off without pay. C. The vacation bid will be posted one (1) week in advance of the actual bid for review by Operators. The bid will be conducted during a minimum of a two (2) week period, with more bid time given to less senior Operators so they have time to review the remaining slots. Operators will be expected to bid within the time allotted. D. Operators must take their vacations as scheduled, unless they notify management in writing no later than twenty-one (21) days in advance. Any request later than that date will be denied. A vacation must be cancelled the way it was bid: On a full week bid, the entire week; on a multiple week bid, in increments of one (1) week; and on a single day bid, in single day increments. Operators who cancel their vacation bid, and that bid is scheduled to be held down by either a Full-time vacation bid Operator or an Extra-board Operator, then the Operator canceling vacation shall revert to the top of the extra-board, behind any Extra-board Operator holding down vacation, for the length of the vacation bid being cancelled. Vacation Bid. The annual vacation bid shall be done by rank beginning with the Sergeants and proceeding to the Corporals and then to the Police Officers. Casual leave shall continue to be handled as in the past.
Vacation Bid. 13.6.1 Initial vacation bid will be entered into the scheduling system on the shift to which you are assigned. Battalion Commanders, Captains, Lieutenants, Engineers, Paramedic, and Specialty Assignments will bid by Time in Grade. Firefighters will bid by seniority. The scheduling system will approve your bid according to staffing policies and procedures. 13.6.3 Members who are promoted after the vacation bid will have their calendar cleared and will have to request days off at the new rank in accordance with staffing policies and procedures.
