Common use of Unit Verification Clause in Contracts

Unit Verification. On or before May 1 of each school year, unit members shall inform the District of the number of units they expect to complete by September 1 of the next school year. If an unforeseen opportunity arises after the May deadline, a unit member may petition the district to have a course included. Unit members shall initially submit to the District unofficial transcripts until official transcripts are available of their satisfactory completion of units necessary to change columns on the salary schedule. An official transcript shall be submitted to the District when issued. If such written proof is submitted by November 1, the column change on the salary schedule will be effective that school year, i.e. it will be effective as of July 1, four months previous. If such written proof is not submitted by November 1, the column change on the salary schedule will be effective the following July 1, i.e. the commencement of the next school year. Satisfactory completion means a grade of "C" or better in a graded course or pass in a pass/fail course. All units shall be obtained from a college or university accredited by a recognized accrediting organization. Unit members hired after the commencement of the school year shall submit official transcripts within thirty (30) calendar days of their first day of work or thirty (30) calendar days of the date their employment agreement is signed, whichever occurs first.
