Common use of TRADING TIME Clause in Contracts

TRADING TIME. Dispatchers may trade time with other Dispatchers in the IAFF bargaining unit under the following conditions: 1. With the approval of the Communication Center Director or his/her designee and with seventy-two (72) hours advance notice. 2. Trading time shall be between like classifications. 3. Trading shall be limited to like days, i.e., employees may only trade 12-hour days for 12-hour days and 8-hour days for 8-hour days. 4. Trades shall not result in back-to-back shifts being worked. 5. The Police Department will not assume any responsibility for any time lost to any member. 6. Should any exchange of time cause a detriment to the Police Department, in the opinion of the Director of the Communication Center, he/she may refuse to grant permission for the exchange. 7. Any employee who is scheduled to work and makes arrangements to have another employee work on his/her behalf, is responsible to have the shift (hours) covered. If the time is not covered for any reason, the scheduled member will owe the City the number of hours that were not worked, to be paid back at the City’s convenience. 8. The employee working for another member shall report to duty in a condition to be able to perform the duties as prescribed by the Supervisor in charge. 9. No employee shall owe more than forty (40) hours at one time.
