Common use of The Right to succession Clause in Contracts

The Right to succession. When you die, your tenancy will pass to your husband or wife, or to your partner as long as you were living together as a couple (this includes couples of the same sex) as long as he or she was living in the property as their only or main home when you died. If you are not married and do no t have a partner, your tenancy will pass to a qualifying relative but only if at the date of your death, they were living with you and had been living with you without a break for the previous 12 months. This is called ‘succession’. For more information about this, and qualifying relatives please refer to the Housing Information Handbook.
