Tairawhiti District Health Board. After every 10 years of continuous service (which may be broken by periods of up to three months), the employee will be entitled to a once only long service holiday of two weeks. Such leave is to be taken in one continuous spell within five years of qualifying except where an employee had an entitlement to long service leave under a previous employment agreement. The employer may approve an equivalent cash payment to the surviving spouse (or estate) of a deceased employee who otherwise would have been eligible for this leave. Employees who are eligible for long service leave at the date of retirement or resignation may receive equivalent (i.e. two or four weeks as applicable) salary in lieu of leave.
