SUPERVISOR – 2ND YEAR. The shift supervisor is directly responsible to the Factory Manager and the General Manager. The shift supervisors duties are:
1. To follow instructions and recognised procedures for the manufacture of consistent quality teas.
2. To efficiently direct and supervise people working on shift or day work manufacturing tea or carrying out cleaning, maintenance or other work.
3. To operate and have a thorough understanding of the operation of the boiler, driers and other sorting equipment during manufacture.
4. Weigh in and correctly record out growers leaf and assess the quality of the leaf being delivered. To contact the Factory Manager if there is any doubt about the leaf quality.
5. Check air flow to bins including out growers bin and fan and monitor the bin tipping order into the factory.
6. Act on and report any breaches of safety by writing the incident into the safety diary. Any safety issues that come to light during work are to be entered into the diary and verbally brought to the attention of the Factory Manager.
7. Maintain sorting standards of tea grades.
8. To understand how the paper work associated with production/sorting/recycling works and to or day work fill out the shift diary including safety issues that may arise.
9. Wash down machinery to company standards. Ensure sump pumps are operating at all times.
10. Record in the maintenance diary any machinery faults that occur during the shift.
11. To be able to communicate respectfully and rationally with Management and all other Employees.
12. Have a basic knowledge of welding, mechanical maintenance and the use of hand tools.
13. To be able to supervise the despatching of produce.
14. To obey and ensure other people under your supervision obey company rules. Any breaches must be reported in writing in the shift diary.
15. To be award of and ensure the Safety Standards are being met by people under your supervision.
16. To be fully conversant with all other aspects of the factory production operation.
17. It is incumbent on the Supervisor that all Employees on shift carry out their work efficiently and correctly at all times. Any person on shift that is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs must be immediately reported to the Factory Manager or General Manager.
