Common use of Starting Salary Clause in Contracts

Starting Salary. ‌ 2.2.1 The employer may appoint kaimahi onto a step (or within a band for kaimahi at UCOL and Open Polytechnic) within the appropriate band of the scale, taking into consideration the following: a) Internal and external relativities; and b) The relevant skills, qualifications, and experience of the employee; and c) The ease or difficulty in recruiting and/or retaining the specific skills. 2.2.2 ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ who are already employed by the employer and join the union, shall remain on their current salary, so long as it is within the correct salary band for the position. Movement onto a step shall occur at the next annual progression date as per clause 2.3.
