Common use of Stand-by Time Clause in Contracts

Stand-by Time. Stand-by time is that period of time other than the employee’s regularly scheduled working hours, when an employee at the direction of the department head is on standby duty, is required to remain in the immediate area and is available to receive and respond to calls for emergency service. Mandatory scheduled standby period for weekends and Holidays shall be at the City’s discretion. The request for stand-by will be posted for sign-up 30 calendar days, or as soon as practical thereafter, prior to the start of stand-by. The stand-by list will be locked- in 3 weeks prior to the scheduled standby period.
