Common use of Short Term Paid Leaves Clause in Contracts

Short Term Paid Leaves. 2014-17 collective agreement terms shall incorporate the short term paid leave of absence provisions in the 2008-12 Collective Agreement and including modifications made during local bargaining in 2013, that utilized deduction from sick leave, for reasons other than personal illness. Such leaves shall be granted without loss of salary or deduction from sick leave, to a maximum of five (5) days per school year. Provisions should reflect any local limits to these leaves that were in place. The days shall not be used for the purpose of sick leave nor shall they be accumulated from year-to-year. Short term paid leave provisions in the 2008-12 collective agreement that did not utilize deduction from sick leave remain status quo and must be incorporated into the 2014-17 collective agreement.
