Short Term Disability (STD. New employees (those hired after August 1, 2014) shall, after 180 days of employment, be eligible for short-term disability when absent due to illness/disability and, as a consequence, unable to work. Coverage begins on the 6th consecutive working day of an employee’s absence. The first fivefive (5) consecutive working days of absence due to illness/disability are deducted from an employee’s available PTO. If an individual does not have any PTO time available, these first five (5) days are unpaid.
