Shift Working. Note: Under this Collective Agreement, there are no limits on a night working operative’s hours of work in any reference period for each 24hours. a If required to work all night employees are to have breaks for meals (not to be paid for) by mutual arrangement with the employer. b Any operative working one day and one night consecutively shall not work for the ensuing day of 8-6 hours (as appropriate) which shall be paid at plain time rates. c Where operatives are asked to work night shift only, they shall be paid at the rate of time and a half* for actual hours worked. d Operatives on night work who are required to change over to day shift shall take a minimum break of eight hours before starting on day work. Any loss of normal day shift hours resulting from such a break will be compensated for by payment at basic rate for any normal hours lost, up to a maximum of eight hours. *See 10.4.

Shift Working. Where a shift rota is the normal working week, the allowance for all hours worked shall be at the rates set out in the following table:-
Shift Working. Shift working means a situation in which more than one shift of no less than eight hours is worked on a job in a 24-hour period and such shifts do not overlap. On all work which is carried out on two or more shifts in a 24-hour period the following provisions shall apply: The first shift in the week shall be the first shift that ends after midnight on Sunday. The normal hours of a shift shall be eight hours, excluding meal breaks, notwithstanding which, the hours to be worked on any particular shift shall be established by the employer. The rate payable for the normal hours of the shift shall be the operative’s normal hourly rate plus, in the case of an operative completing a shift, a shift allowance of 14% of the normal hourly rate. An operative required to work continuously for over eight hours on a shift or shifts shall be paid at the rate of time and a half, plus a shift allowance of 14% of his normal hourly rate, for the first four hours beyond eight hours and thereafter at double time but such double time payment shall not be enhanced by the 14% allowance (i.e. the maximum rate in any circumstances shall be double the normal hourly rate.) After having worked five complete shifts in a week an operative shall on the first shift thereafter be paid at the rate of time and half of normal rate plus 12½% shift allowance for the first eight hours of the shift, and thereafter on any subsequent shift in that week at the rate of double time, but with no shift allowance. Where the nature of the work is such as to require an operative to remain at the work station and remain available for work during mealtimes, a shift allowance of 20% shall apply instead of the 14% or 12½% otherwise referred to in this Rule.
Shift Working. Patterns of work falling into the definitions below are viewed as non-standard working and attract premium shift payments at various levels. Shift payments are calculated on the basic salary and are part of the normal week’s pay as defined above. A shift worker is an employee who works in the same job over a regular rostered pattern of work, which extends outside the normal eleven hour day, with the exception of night work. To attract the shift payment the employee must be rostered into all of the shift sessions over the period of the roster. Overtime hours at plain time or premium rates do not attract any form of shift payment. Shift allowances are only paid to temporary or casual workers on the same basis as permanent workers i.e. when the full shift pattern is worked. In determining working arrangements to suit the needs of the service, managers will take into account the circumstances of the individuals and groups of individuals.   • Shift Work Shift work is work not in excess of ordinary hours (ie 38 hours per week), but carried out wholly or partly between the hours of 7.00pm and 7.00am, Monday to Friday. Shift work is work scheduled at least 24 hours prior to the commencement of the shift. Employees required to work shift work will be paid at time and one quarter of the ordinary rate per hour for ordinary hours worked.

  • Contract Work The provision of goods and services identified in the Contract constitute the contract work (Contract Work). Contractor shall perform the Contract Work pursuant to the terms of the Contract. Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, services, appliances, and appurtenances for the Contract Work in strict conformity with this Contract, within the time-period prescribed by the City.

  • Extra Work At any time during the Term of this Agreement, City may request that Consultant perform Extra Work. As used herein, “Extra Work” means any work which is determined by City to be necessary for the proper completion of the Project, but which the Parties did not reasonably anticipate would be necessary at the execution of this Agreement. Consultant shall not perform, nor be compensated for, Extra Work without written authorization from City’s Representative.

  • Shift Workers All shift workers (i.e. workers whose shift commences at or after the end of the ordinary day work hours) presenting for work when the temperature is at or over 35°C will remain on site in air conditioned amenities for a minimum two hours, holding themselves available to commence work should the temperature fall below 35°C.

  • Faculty Workload The workload of faculty includes student advising, maintaining and improving expertise in a discipline and in pedagogy, serving on departmental and university committees, contributing to student growth and development, evaluating student performance, scholarly activities, and service to university and community, as well as teaching and class preparation. Additionally, as a professional, a faculty member shall devote a substantial amount of his/her workload to course preparation, research, the maintenance of professional expertise, innovations in teaching/learning and other similar activities. These endeavors shall comprise the faculty member’s workload.

  • Work The definition of work, for overtime purposes only, includes:

  • Project Work PURCHASER shall complete the following projects in accordance with the specifications provided in Exhibits B, C, D, E, and F and written instructions from STATE.
