Common use of Shift Extension Clause in Contracts

Shift Extension. A shift extension is time worked by an employee contiguous to the beginning or end of a regularly scheduled shift. It differs from a shift adjustment because the employee works their entire scheduled shift in addition to the extension. Shift extensions shall be compensated at the applicable overtime rate for the actual hours worked in addition to the regular shift.

It differs from a shift adjustment because the employee works their entire scheduled shift in addition to the extension. Shift extensions shall be compensated at the applicable overtime rate for the actual hours worked in addition to the regular shift. There is no minimum overtime period if the overtime is contiguous to a scheduled shift.
