Shift Extension. If an employee is called to work early or is worked beyond his/her normal work shift, compensation for overtime shall be calculated in accordance with Subsection C of this section.
Shift Extension. Where it is deemed necessary to extend shifts on short notice, such extensions will be offered by seniority, subject to availability, to employees whose shift is ending at the time the extension is required by the Employer. This will not apply in cases where the extension of the senior employee(s) would result in overtime. Meal and rest periods will be subject to Articles 7, 8 and 9, if applicable.
Shift Extension. Shift extension is defined as any authorized overtime activity occurring after the completion of a regular shift but prior to going out of service. If shift extension or call out is initiated from a source outside of the Department (e.g., a prosecutor), the lieutenant notified shall immediately advise Communications so a CAD entry can be made to account for overtime accrued. Overtime shall be paid for up to thirty (30) minutes prior to the time of required reporting to the assignment. All supervisory employees shall ensure that accrual of overtime is kept to a minimum.
Shift Extension. A shift extension is time worked by an employee contiguous to the beginning or end of a regularly scheduled shift. It differs from a shift adjustment because the employee works their entire scheduled shift in addition to the extension. Shift extensions shall be compensated at the applicable overtime rate for the actual hours worked in addition to the regular shift.
Shift Extension. When an employee is asked to remain at work beyond the end of the employee’s scheduled shift to perform work that is contiguous and/or connected with the scheduled shift.
Shift Extension. Where an employee receives prior notice to report to work early or is required to work beyond or to remain after the regular scheduled shift, the employee shall be paid at the applicable rate for the actual hours worked in accordance with the provisions of Article 10. When an employee's shift is extended the employee will not be required to work a shorter regular shift in lieu of overtime.
Shift Extension. Shift extension is used for the purpose of providing a smooth transition of crews who are engaged in an emergency at shift change. All such overtime shall be paid out in cash payment. Overtime rates apply for time worked in excess of 30 minutes beyond the regular or designated duty shift. A minimum amount of one (1) hour will be credited regardless if the amount of time worked is less than one (1) hour but more than 30 minutes for shift change. Shift extension when responses are out of jurisdiction will be paid at the rate of double time. With the mutual agreement of the parties, shift extension may be used to provide coverage for reasons other than emergencies.
Shift Extension. A shift extension opportunity is defined as an extension of the regular shift (for those individuals at work on their regularly scheduled shift), such that the total hours worked do not exceed 16 in any 24-hour period. *Recognize ESA hours free from work. A shift extension could be before or after the regular shift. The Company will make every reasonable effort to schedule employees the working day before or as early in the shift to be extended, as practical. Employees not at work for any reason when the overtime opportunity is offered and have not called prior to the start of the shift will not be given the opportunity to work overtime and will be charged.
Shift Extension. When an employee is asked to remain at work, beyond the end of the employee’s scheduled shift, to perform work that is contiguous and / or connected with the scheduled shift. Call Back: When an employee is called back, after completing a work day and leaving the work premises or on a non-work day, to work for a period of time that is not contiguous or connected with the employee’s scheduled shift. Early Report: When an employee is asked and/or required to report early for work that is contiguous and/or connected with the employee’s scheduled shift.
Shift Extension. When the Department requires employees to report for work contiguous to their regularly scheduled shift, employees will be compensated at the applicable rate of pay (straight or overtime) per Article 28.
