Common use of Shift Duration Clause in Contracts

Shift Duration. In the event that an existing shift duration does not result in the provision of satisfactory service to the public; or is operationally impractical for other reasons; the Employer will consult with the Union, with the view to minimizing any adverse effects that a change to existing shift duration may have on employees. The Employer will give the employees sixty (60) calendar days advance notice of the shift requirement; and invite expressions of interest. The expression of interest notice shall include the required: number of employees; classification; abilities, experience, qualifications, special skills and physical fitness, where applicable, reflecting the functions of the job concerned; and shift duration. If there are more qualified volunteers than required, preference in filling the positions shall be given to the employees with the greatest length of seniority.
