Sessional Instructor. 19.1.1 Sessional Instructor compensation includes: 19.1.1.1 Effective July 1, 2016, a per-course Pay Scale with 4 distinct steps for Studio and 3 distinct steps for Liberal Arts & Sciences (see Appendix C), placement on which reflects experience and career achievement; 19.1.1.2 Effective July 1, 2018, a per-course Pay Scale (see Appendix C), with placement on 4 levels, which reflects experience and career achievement; 19.1.1.3 Effective July 1, 2019, a per-course Pay Scale (see Appendix C), with placement on 3 levels, which reflects experience and career achievement;
Sessional Instructor. 19.1.1 Sessional Instructor compensation includes: 19.1.1.1 A per-course Pay Scale with 4 distinct steps for Studio and 3 distinct steps for Liberal Arts & Sciences (see Appendix C), placement on which reflects experience and career achievement;
Sessional Instructor. (i) Sessional Instructor I: A Sessional Academic Staff Member who possesses a Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional experience, credentials, and/or teaching experience. (ii) Sessional Instructor II: A Sessional Academic Staff Member who possesses a Master’s degree or equivalent, or possesses a four-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and has taught 12 three credit hour courses or equivalent. (iii) Sessional Instructor III: A Sessional Academic Staff Member who possesses a Ph.D. or equivalent, or possesses a Master’s degree or equivalent and has taught 15 three credit hour courses or equivalent. 18.2.1 Equivalent qualifications in accordance with Article 18.2 include relevant professional experience, credentials, teaching experience and Indigenous knowledge, and shall be assessed in accordance with Article 18.5.
Sessional Instructor. The duties of a Sessional Instructor are related to the creation, content development, implementation and delivery of undergraduate and graduate courses. These duties include, but are not limited to, the following:  teaching classes aligned, in general conformity with the content, format and official description approved by the University;  preparing course outlines and materials, and submitting them for approval by the Department Head, where appropriate;  providing academic counselling to students;  being available to meet with students;  grading and reporting as set by the academic regulations;  observing and abiding by all academic regulations as set by the University of ▇▇▇▇▇▇;  reporting all instances of suspected academic and non-academic misconduct to the appropriate University personnel;  maintaining student records as required by University policy;  maintaining confidentiality regarding student matters;  attending orientation as required; and  performing other duties directly related to the teaching of assigned courses, as agreed by the Sessional Instructor and the University. Notwithstanding the provisions of Article 2Academic Freedom and / or Article 3Intellectual Property, the University will make all reasonable efforts to provide Sessional Instructors with resources required to teach the classes they are assigned.
Sessional Instructor. 19.1.1 Sessional Instructor compensation includes: 19.1.1.1 A per-course Pay Scale (see Appendix C), with initial placement reflective of experience and career achievement; 19.1.1.2 Subsequent progress on the relevant Pay Scale, for Sessional Instructors not at the ceiling, shall represent: 19.1.1.2.1 one step upon nine (9) cumulative 0.5 credits taught; 19.1.1.2.2 one additional step upon fifteen (15) cumulative 0.5 credits taught; 19.1.1.2.3 This language comes into effect at July 1, 2025. Teaching credits will begin accumulating as of this date.
