Common use of Seniority Definitions Clause in Contracts

Seniority Definitions. A. System Seniority shall be defined as the length of employment by an employee with the Board as computed from the employee's most recent date of hire. B. Job Classification Seniority shall be defined as the length of employment by an employee in a particular job classification as computed from the employee's most recent date of entry into such job classification. Job classification shall correspond with the job classification set forth on the salary schedule as published by the Board of Education. C. Seniority within job classification for vacant positions will prevail at all times, unless otherwise specified in this Agreement. D. When members are on approved leave for periods of thirty (30) consecutive calendar days or less, seniority shall not be affected. Seniority shall not accumulate during approved leaves exceeding thirty (30) consecutive calendar days except those which are for medical reasons.
