Common use of Selection to Vacancies Clause in Contracts

Selection to Vacancies. 10.1.1 No person shall be appointed to a vacancy in the PWU jurisdiction until all qualified PWU represented applicants have been selected. Non-represented employees may be appointed to positions within the PWU’s jurisdiction but will only be able to use that portion of their service which was acquired while a member of the PWU. 10.1.2 If an employee is appointed to a vacancy within the PWU jurisdiction from a bargaining unit which restricts seniority in the Company to its own 10.1.3 The Company may request a waiver of Posting and/or Selection from PWU when there are medical reasons related to the employee or his/her immediate family, as verified by the Company appointed Physician. If the waiver request is agreed to by the Union, the employee will be appointed to the position. Employees appointed to positions, which are filled due to an agreed to waiver of posting and/or selection, will be entitled to moving expenses in accordance with the provisions of Part A, Item 23.0.
