School Tuition. 10.1: An employee who on his or her days off attends an accredited college, university or trade school in a course or program related to police service, with the approval of the chief of police, shall be reimbursed by the Township for tuition, purchase of books, and other necessary materials required by the course. Employees shall be reimbursed a maximum of $4,000 per calendar year by the Township within thirty (30) days upon submission of proper documentation that he or she is enrolled in the course.

School Tuition. An employee who on his/her days off attends an accredited college, university, trade school, or technical school in a course or program related to his/her work in the Township, with the approval of the Township Supervisor or designee, shall be reimbursed by the Township in the amount of tuition and books, except that the Township shall only reimburse tuition costs for college courses up to an amount equal to the cost of twenty (20) credit hours per year based upon the per credit cost at Macomb Community College. The tuition reimbursement limit for classes and course material leading to a degree beyond an associate’s degree will be $5,000 per year. Employees shall be reimbursed by the Township within thirty (30) days upon submission of proper documentation that he/she has satisfactorily completed the course with a passing grade of “C” or better. If an employee terminates employment within one (1) year of receiving any portion of said funds, unless for normal age and service retirement, the employee will return said funds on prorata basis commencing the month of receiving the funds. A month shall be counted for proration only if the employee worked the greater portion of working days in that month.

If such amount is not repaid to the Township, upon advance notice to the employee, such amount may be withheld from his/her pay. Advance notice shall not be necessary if the employee is terminating employment. Upon ratification of this agreement, an employee who on his or her days off attends a college, university or trade school in a course or program related to police service, with the approval of the Chief of Police, shall be reimbursed a maximum of $2,000 per calendar year by the Township for tuition, purchase of books, and other necessary materials required by the course. Current bargaining unit members in the bargaining unit on December 29, 2010 shall be exempt from this provision for a period of four years from the date of signing of the contract April 1, 2010 through March 31, 2013 contract (December 29, 2014).

School Tuition. The Contractor shall be entitled to reimbursement of up to Seventeen Thousand One Hundred and Forty-Five Canadian Dollars ($17,450.00C) or €12,465 per year on account of school tuition and related costs associated with transportation and book purchases (“School Tuition”) incurred by the Consultant and his family. In the event of early termination of the agreement, the Corporation agrees to continue payment of the School Tuition payments until the end of the relevant school year.
