School Resource Officer Program. PURPOSE The primary purpose of the School Resource Officer Program (SRO) is to accomplish a reduction and prevent crimes committed by juveniles and young adults. This is accomplished by assigning officers to school facilities on a permanent basis. The SRO Program establishes goals and objectives designed to develop and enhance the relationship between the youth, police officers and the school administrators. The officers that are selected for this program are responsible for establishing and helping maintain good productive communications that allow for a free flow of information between the parties. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

Charter schools are required to contribute to the District for Tier I Special Education costs. See above under Required Services. New charter schools will be required to purchase all Special Education Services under Tier 3 from the District. Charter schools may contract with independent providers for additional special education services, such as Speech/Language, OT, PT, Social Workers, Psychologists, and Curriculum support, modification and accommodation, apart from District‐provided services. However, identifying and contracting with these independent providers are entirely the responsibility of the charter schools. Alternatively, these services may be purchased from the District under Tier 2. Tier 2 services include all of the services included in Tier 1, as well as Speech/Language, OT, PT, Social Workers, Psychologists, and curriculum support. See below for the cost for Tier 2 services.
School Resource Officer Program. 207. Xxxxxxxx’x existing school resource officer (SRO) program offers a unique opportunity to build trust and cooperation between Xxxxxxxx'x youth and law enforcement on a daily basis. This program, through education and the promotion of mutual respect, also provides Ferguson the opportunity to reduce students’ unnecessary involvement in the juvenile and criminal justice systems, which can have profound negative effects on students’ engagement and success in school and the broader community. In light of these dynamics, FPD agrees that its SRO program will build positive relationships between officers and youth, avoid unnecessary negative police actions such as arrests, and develop alternatives that promote keeping students in school and out of the criminal justice system.
