Samples for Testing. Samples shall be of sufficient size and in accordance with relevant Standards to carry out all specified tests. Unless agreed otherwise by the Engineer samples taken on the Site shall be selected by or taken in the presence of the Engineer and shall be suitably marked for their identification. An identification marking system should be evolved at the start of works in consultation with the Engineer. Samples shall be protected, handled and stored in such a manner that they are not damaged or contaminated and such that the properties of the sample do not change. Samples shall be delivered by the Contractor, under the supervision of the Engineer, to the specified place of testing. Samples on which non-destructive tests have been carried out shall be collected from the place of testing after testing and delivered to the Site or other locations as instructed by the Engineer. Samples which have been tested may be incorporated in the Permanent Works provided that: a. the sample complies with the specified requirements; b. the sample is not damaged; and c. the sample is not required to be retained under any other provision of the Agreement. Additional samples shall be provided for testing if in the opinion of the Engineer: (a) material previously tested no longer complies with the specified requirements; or (b) Material has been handled or stored in such a manner that it may not comply with the specified requirements.
