Common use of Retention of Right Clause in Contracts

Retention of Right. The Employer reserves and retains, solely and exclusively, all rights to manage and direct its work forces, except as expressly abridged by the specific provisions of this Agreement, including by way of illustration, but not limitation, the determination of policies, operations, assignments, schedules, layoffs, etc. All rights, functions, powers and authority which the Employer has not specifically abridged, delegated, or modified by specific terms of this Agreement are recognized by the Union as being retained by the Employer.
