The Program Seniority clause establishes the order of priority among different programs or agreements, determining which has precedence in case of conflict or overlap. In practice, this clause specifies whether a particular program takes priority over others, such as when multiple funding sources or contractual obligations are involved. By clearly defining which program is considered senior, the clause helps prevent disputes and confusion, ensuring that all parties understand which terms govern in situations where multiple programs interact.
Program Seniority. Program seniority is the number of consecutive years a specialist has been assigned to a particular program. Partial years and partial FTE count as full years for the purpose of program seniority.
Program Seniority. Academic employees holding faculty appointments or special faculty appointments shall be deemed to have accumulated seniority in a program listed in Article 8.8 as follows: a. Program seniority for one-third (1/3) of an academic quarter shall accrue to a faculty appointee who has been assigned three (3) to seven (7) "instructional units" (or their equivalent) in a program during any academic quarter. b. Program seniority for two-thirds (2/3) of an academic quarter shall accrue to a faculty appointee who has been assigned eight (8) to twelve (12) "instructional units" (or their equivalent) in a program during any academic quarter. c. Program seniority for one (1) academic quarter shall accrue to a faculty appointee who has been assigned thirteen (13) or more "instructional units" (or their equivalent) in a program during any academic quarter. For purposes of this Section, three (3) academic quarters shall equal one (1) year of program seniority, "instructional units" (or their equivalent) shall be rounded to the nearest whole number, and released time shall not be deducted from the calculation of program seniority for faculty appointees otherwise assigned full-time to a given program.

Program Seniority is an employee’s service for Education Northwest within a particular program since their most recent date of hire or rehire as a bargaining unit employee in the program, subject to any break in service provisions specifically stated in this Agreement.
