Probationary Sergeant. A newly promoted sergeant shall be on probationary status for 6 months from the date of promotion. During this probationary period the Director of Public Safety may determine that the probationary sergeant does not demonstrate the ability to perform the required work. The decision of the Director is not subject to Grievance procedure. The staff member shall also have the option to elect to return to his or her former position during this probationary period.

Probationary Sergeant. 1) New Hires A person hired into the CMU Police Department as a Sergeant shall be a probationary employee for the first year of his/her continuous employment with the University. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, he/she shall be entered on a seniority list of the Department and shall be credited with full seniority for continuous service from the latest date of hire as a regular employee with the University including the probationary period. There shall be no seniority among probationary Sergeants. Discharge or discipline of probationary Sergeants is not grievable under this Agreement.
Probationary Sergeant. Those employees promoted to the rank o f Sergeant shall serve a probationary period of three months prior to receiving permanent appointment to the rank of Sergeant. The probationary period shall be subject to the provisions of the New York State Civil Service Law.

  • Probationary Employee The term "probationary employee" as used in this Agreement refers to a full-time bargaining unit employee who has received a probationary appointment and is serving a period of probation.

Employees required by their respective appointing officers to work on any of the above specified or substitute holidays, excepting Fridays observed as holidays in lieu of holidays falling on Saturday, shall be paid extra compensation of one additional day's pay at time- and-one-half the usual rate in the amount of 12 hours pay for 8 hours worked or a proportionate amount for less than 8 hours worked provided, however, that at the employee's request and with the approval of the appointing officer, an employee may be granted compensatory time off in lieu of paid overtime as provided for elsewhere in this contract. 127. Executive, administrative and professional employees designated in the Annual Salary Ordinance with the "Z" symbol shall not receive extra compensation for holiday work but may be granted time off equivalent to the time worked at the rate of-one-and-one-half times for work on the holiday.
