Precautions Against Exposure to the HIV Virus and Hepatitis B. A. The Department of Corrections (CDC), Youth Authority (CYA), Mental Health (DMH), Veterans Affairs (DVA), and Developmental Services (DDS) shall utilize the best guidelines identified for the housing, control and treatment of inmates, wards, clients, and patients to ensure the protection of staff from exposure to contagious/infectious disease. Examples of guidelines the departments may use are the Joint Advisory Notice issued by the Department of Labor, Department of Human Services, and guidelines issued by the Center for Disease Control.
