Permanent Unit Members. The primary focus in the evaluation of Permanent Unit Members shall be on coaching, support, professional development and feedback related to the six Teaching Standards. Permanent Unit Members shall be evaluated every two years except whenever any permanent certificated unit member does not meet standards. Such unit member shall be evaluated annually until the unit member achieves a satisfactory evaluation of meeting standards. In addition, a unit members receiving a final evaluation of partially meets standards may be evaluated annually at the discretion of management. Permanent Unit Members with at least three years teaching experience in the District may have available Option I or Option II with the approval of the site administrator. Permanent unit members will meet with his/her evaluator within 45 calendar days of the start of the school year to discuss the evaluation process and an initial request to be placed on the five year evaluation plan must be made at this time. The final evaluation will be completed according to Education Code section 44663a (currently 30 days prior to the end of the school year). Unit Members with permanent status, who have been employed at least 10 years with the school district, and whose previous evaluation rated the employee as meeting standards may be evaluated up to every five years if the unit member and evaluator consent to this schedule. Placement on the five year plan must be noted on the final evaluation. Should the evaluator/evaluatee withdraw consent, notice and reasons shall be provided within 45 calendar days of the start of the school year. A unit member’s 5 year evaluation cycle shall not be invalidated for the following reasons: ● An administrator/evaluator new to the school site ● A unit members transfer to a new school site.
Permanent Unit Members. After the probationary period, all unit members shall be evaluated annually on the unit member’s anniversary date.
Permanent Unit Members. A. Evaluation Every Other Year: Every permanent bargaining unit member shall be evaluated by their immediate supervisor and/or designee in writing every other year, except for those who qualify under Section 19.3.2. B. An evaluatee with permanent status in the District or the evaluator may initiate an annual evaluation if deemed necessary.

Permanent unit members given a rating of “Satisfactory/Meeting Standards” on the Summative Evaluation section of the Formal Observation Summary Report Form or on the Complete of Alternative Evaluation Form shall be formally evaluated at least once every other year, unless approved for the 5-Year Alternative Cycle described in Section 14.4.3. Permanent unit members given a rating of “Unsatisfactory/Not Meeting Standards” on the Summative Evaluation Section of the Formal Observation Summary Report Form or on the Completion of Alternative Evaluation Form shall be evaluated the subsequent school year. Even if a unit member received a satisfactory evaluation the previous year, he/she may still be evaluated the following year. A unit member who has transferred to a different school or work site from the site where the unit member was based in the preceding year will ordinarily be evaluated, even if the unit member as evaluated during the preceding year.
Permanent Unit Members. 8.2.1 Permanent unit members - shall receive a minimum of one written evaluation every other year, unless otherwise requested by the unit member or supervisor. If an evaluation is not given in a specific year, it shall be assumed that the unit member is performing satisfactorily. A supervisor may have a unit member complete a self- evaluation prior to the regular evaluation with the supervisor. When a new supervisor is assigned to a permanent unit member, and needs to conduct an evaluation within the first six months, the supervisor will consult with another supervisor who has first-hand knowledge of the unit member’s performance before issuing an evaluation. 8.2.2 In the absence of prior negative evaluative activity or disciplinary steps during the evaluation period, failure of the administrator to issue the final evaluation by June 30 shall be deemed a satisfactory evaluation.

Permanent unit members who have been employed in the district for less than ten years and performing satisfactorily shall be formally evaluated at least once every other year. Permanent unit members who have been employed at least ten years with the district, are NCLB Compliant, if applicable, and whose previous evaluation rated the employee as “Meets Standards,” “Progress Evident,” “Practice Consistent with Professional Standards” or “Practice Distinguished” shall be evaluated every five years, if the unit member and evaluator consent to this schedule. The certificated employee or the evaluator may withdraw consent at any time. Should either party withdraw consent, written notice and the reason(s) for the withdrawal shall be provided to the other party. Permanent unit members given a rating of “Practice Not Consistent With Minimum Standards” in one half or more of the elements of any one teaching standard on the Certificated Teacher Observation/Evaluation Form shall be formally evaluated each school year. Members receiving a rating of “Practice Not Consistent With Minimum Standards” in one half or more of the elements of any single standard” shall be rated “unsatisfactory” and referred to the PAR program. This rating shall be determined by the CUSD Rubric Supporting the California Standards for Teaching Professionals in the Appendix (Appendix C).
Permanent Unit Members. Unless mutually agreed to, every unit member shall be evaluated by the administration in writing once every two years, no later than six weeks before the end of the school year. Upon mutual agreement, the evaluator and unit member may extend the evaluation cycle by one year, which will establish the base date for the new evaluation cycle. The evaluator will notify the Director of Human Resources of any such change. However, every unit member may receive yearly observations as per section 8.5 of this Article. Such yearly observations may be used as data by the evaluator/evaluate in formulating the summary evaluation in the stipulated evaluation year. If sufficient evidence exists during any given year that a permanent unit member is in need of a yearly evaluation, said unit member shall be promptly placed on a yearly evaluation. A performance improvement plan shall be jointly developed for a permanent unit member being placed on a yearly evaluation. After the conditions of the plan have been met, the unit member shall revert back to the normal two-year cycle. Extended Evaluation: In accordance with Ed Code 44664(a)(3), unit members may be evaluated once every five years provided the unit member meets the following conditions: • has been employed in the District for at least ten years in a certificated position; • is “highly qualified” as defined under ESEA/NCLB; • meets or exceeds standards in his/her previous evaluation; and • the evaluator and the unit member agree to such an evaluation schedule. Either party may withdraw consent for this extended evaluation schedule at any time. If a unit member is scheduled to be evaluated during a particular school year, but is granted Leave of Absence for one semester or longer, such evaluation shall take place the second semester of the first full year of return to duty.
Permanent Unit Members. All permanent unit members will be evaluated using the formal District evaluation document annually, no later than June 30. Ongoing evaluation communications concerning performance appraisals are permissible at any time.
