OPTIONAL LEAVES. All other leaves requested by employees may or may not be granted, depending on status and service of the employee, reasons given for the leave, documentation of these reasons, and effect of the leave upon the work of the particular college or division. The District retains discretion as to whether an optional leave is granted. Denial of written requests for optional leaves for longer than twenty (20) consecutive working days in duration require that reason(s) for such denial be stated in writing.
OPTIONAL LEAVES. Applications for optional leaves of absence must be submitted on or before the dates established by this Article or, if not indicated, at least ten (10) working days prior to the commencement of the leave. Exceptions may be made at the sole discretion of the District. Unless otherwise indicated in this Article, all applications for leaves of absence shall be made on a prescribed District form and shall indicate the beginning and ending dates of the requested leave and the reasons for the request. If a request for optional leave is denied, the employee shall be so notified in writing within five (5) working days of the filing of the request.
