Open Day Selection. Process (throughout the year): Open days throughout the year, i.e., vacation slots not filled during the first three (3) rounds, will be requested through the chain of command to the Division Chief. Days will be given on a first come first serve basis. Out of rank vacation can be requested, however, the Division Chief will not be required to approve or deny the request until three (3) shifts prior to the requested vacation day. If multiple members put in for the same open slot on the same day, the open slot will be awarded to the member who submitted the request first on that date requested. Excess vacation hours banked from previous years may only be utilized under special circumstances at the discretion of the Division Chief.
