Medically Fragile. When a teacher is assigned a medically fragile student, the teacher shall not be required, except in an emergency, to perform routine scheduled maintenance of a medical appliance or apparatus used by the student to sustain his/her bodily functions, nor, except in an emergency, to render scheduled care or maintenance to help with any bodily functions which would not ordinarily be administered to a non-medically fragile student. In a situation where it is required that a student be lifted or transported, the teacher may request assistance, such assistance shall not be unreasonably denied.
