Changes in Certification. Teachers shall meet certification requirements to be considered for placement in a new area of certification for the following year. For the school year, teachers must present the Personnel Office with a letter of endorsement recommendation from the college certification department prior to March 15. The Association and the teacher hereby agree to waive the sixty (60) day notice requirement before layoff. If the teacher does not present to the Personnel Office the actual Michigan Department of Education certificate one calendar week before the first teacher work day, the teacher shall be laid off. Placement in the new area of certification shall not be made unless the certification is presented to the Personnel Office one (1) calendar week before the first teacher work day.
