Common use of MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC Clause in Contracts

MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC. The Contractor shall perform the Work so as not to unnecessarily interfere with or delay traffic (vehicular, bicycle or pedestrian) and so that not less than one lane of traffic shall be kept moving in each direction of movement permitted by traffic regulations. In order to avoid traffic congestion or accident hazards, the NYCDOT EIU may direct that the Work shall be performed so as not to interfere with traffic in any way during all or part of the periods from 7AM to 9AM and from 4PM to 7PM and during any other periods of unusual peak traffic movement. There may be some instances where the Contractor will be prohibited from working during regular hours by the City.
