Common use of Language Development Clause in Contracts

Language Development. Oranga Tamariki acknowledges they play a role in promoting and supporting the knowledge and use of New Zealand’s official languages (Te Reo Māori, New Zealand Sign Language, and English) as well as the Pacific Island languages and are committed to lifting the level of cultural competence across the organisation. It is a professional requirement of all roles that they have the language skills required to do their role. We also acknowledge that individuals may choose to increase their language capacity beyond what is required for their role and that languages are cultural taonga. Employees may seek approval, as part of their development planning conversations, to access time, and/or funding, to develop their language capability.
