Common use of JURY OR WITNESS PAY Clause in Contracts

JURY OR WITNESS PAY. Any employee covered by this Agreement who is forced to be absent from duty as a result of serving as a juror or a witness, shall receive from the City, in lieu thereof, pay at the regular rate for the actual number of hours served that were scheduled to be worked, and any juror or witness pay received by the employee covering the hours absent from duty shall be remitted to the City. An employee on day shift serving jury or witness duty will not be expected to return to work to complete his/her shift if such duty extends beyond 16:00 hours. An employee on evening shift will be entitled to four (4) hours clear of jury or witness duty prior to commencing his/her shift.
