FACULTY WORKING CONDITIONS. A. The primary responsibility of a part-time instructional faculty member is to educate students. To be in compliance with the requirements of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and accrediting agencies, each part-time instructional faculty member must satisfy the minimum certification requirements. The Administration shall provide the necessary support services and personnel to enable each instructional faculty member to perform his responsibilities, which shall include the following: B. The College will schedule two major instructional semesters - Fall and Spring. Within each of these semesters and including the Summer, the College may schedule classes of varying length. C. Part-time instructional faculty members shall be invited to, but not required to attend, in- service days. All part-time instructional faculty are expected to attend on in-service day per year. An in-service day is a district-wide contractual day of service scheduled on a non-teaching day. D. Each part-time instructional faculty member shall maintain and post in her syllabus ten minutes of office hours per week for each ten (10) load points, or major part thereof. E. A part-time instructional faculty member may be invited, but not required, to participate with other faculty members in his discipline to develop, revise and implement a course or program. F. Each part-time instructional faculty member shall be responsible for maintaining records, preparing for classes, grading papers, and maintaining professional competence. G. Each part-time instructional faculty member shall be invited, but not required, to attend discipline/division meetings as scheduled. Part-time instructional faculty members are encouraged to participate in the discussion. H. Each part-time instructional faculty member will complete compliance trainings as required by the College. This may include but is not limited to yearly FERPA, ADA, and Title IX training. Compliance trainings are limited to a maximum of five (5) hours per year. All trainings may be counted as Professional Development.
