Holiday Guidelines. All employees must use ETO if the department is closed for the holiday. If an employee is required to work or is scheduled to work on the official holiday, they may be eligible for holiday pay at one and a half (1 ½) times their hourly rate. • Depending upon the particular day of the week a designated holiday falls on, the Hospital may observe the holiday on a different day than the official holiday. • Holiday pay for hourly caregivers runs from 2300 the day prior to the holiday through 2300 on the day of the holiday except for Christmas and New Year’s, which starts at 1500 the day prior to the holiday. • If a department chooses to close on a particular day that is not a Hospital recognized holiday (i.e.; Christmas Eve), employees have a choice of using ETO or Leave without Pay.
