Held-to-maturity investments. Held-to-maturity investments are non-derivative financial assets with fixed or determinable payments and fixed maturity dates that the Company has the positive intention to hold to maturity. If the Company has the positive intent and ability to hold debt securities to maturity, then they are classified as held-to-maturity. Subsequent to initial recognition, held-to-maturity investments are measured at amortised cost using the effective interest rate method, less any impairment losses, to the net amount of the financial instrument. The effective interest rate method is a method of calculating the amortised cost of a financial instrument and allocating the interest over the relevant period. The effective interest rate is the rate that exactly discounts estimated future cash payments or receipts over the expected life of the financial instrument, or, where appropriate, a shorter period.

Loans and receivables comprise cash and cash equivalents and trade and other receivables. Cash and cash equivalents comprises of cash on hand and cash at bank and short term deposits with a maturity of three months or less.
