Common use of Full Year Clause in Contracts

Full Year. Professional leave may be granted for advanced study, research, or 15 any other reason which will be considered beneficial to the District. To be 16 eligible for a professional leave, a staff member must have been employed as a 17 Parkway certified staff member for a minimum of three (3) years. 18 19 Certified staff will apply to the Department of Human Resources in writing and 20 state the reason for the proposed leave, the subject area in which studies will be 21 conducted and the place where the studies will be pursued. The Superintendent 22 will review the application and make a recommendation to the Board of 23 Education concerning the certified staff member. If the request is denied, the 24 certified staff member will be notified as to the reason for denial. All 25 applications for professional leave will be filed before the end of the third week 26 of January, for a leave for the following year. Certain conditions may exist or 27 arise which could make application impossible before the deadline. 28 Applications made after the deadline may be considered by the Superintendent 29 for recommendation to the Board of Education. 30 31 Professional leave may be granted for one (1) year. Any request for extension 32 of the leave should be made via a second application. A leave can be granted 33 for less than a full year at the discretion of the Superintendent and the approval 34 of the Board of Education. 35 36 Neither salary nor fringe benefits will be paid during the leave period. 37 38 Failure to return to full-time employment at the designated time without prior 39 written approval will constitute voluntary termination. 40
