Foundation Studies. The Engineer shall coordinate with the State to determine the location of soil borings to be drilled along the retaining wall alignments. The soil borings shall extend a minimum of 35 feet below the footing elevation or deeper as soil conditions warrant. Spacing of soil borings shall not exceed 500 feet. The Engineer shall provide a boring layout for the State’s review and comment.

The Engineer will perform engineering services generally described as in accordance with the project description attached hereto and made a part of this Work Authorization. The responsibilities of the State and the Engineer as well as the work schedule are further detailed in exhibits A, B and C which are attached hereto and made a part of the Work Authorization. PART II. The maximum amount payable under this Work Authorization is $ and the method of payment is as set forth in Attachment E of the Contract. This amount is based upon fees set forth in Attachment E, Fee Schedule, of the Contract and the Engineer’s estimated Work Authorization costs included in Exhibit D, Fee Schedule, which is attached and made a part of this Work Authorization. PART III. Payment to the Engineer for the services established under this Work Authorization shall be made in accordance with Articles 3 thru 5 of the contract, and Attachment A, Article 1. PART IV. This Work Authorization shall become effective on the date of final acceptance of the parties hereto and shall terminate on , unless extended by a supplemental Work Authorization as provided in Attachment A, Article 1. The maximum contract time is the time needed to complete all work authorizations that will be issued in the first two years of the contract. All work authorizations must be issued within the initial two-year period, starting from the contract execution date. PART V. This Work Authorization does not waive the parties' responsibilities and obligations provided under the Contract.
