Fire Apparatus Engineer. Two (2) years’ experience as a full-time career Firefighter with the Fire Authority or a fire agency that the OCFA assumed fire protection responsibility for, who has completed probation as a Firefighter at the time of application. In addition to the years’ experience requirement above, an applicant seeking promotion to Fire Apparatus Engineer must have completed the formalized OCFA Fire Apparatus Engineer Development Series (Class 1 – 4) or must have completed Driver Operator 1A and 1B at the time of application. Proof of documentation is required.

Fire Apparatus Engineer. Seniority—Seniority shall be based by time in the Fire Department and not the promotional date per Policy and Procedures Manual, except that this may be changed as needed for operational requirements in the sole discretion of the Fire Chief through revision to the Policy and Procedures Manual. The City will meet and consult with the IAFF before implementing any change, but may implement the change without necessarily reaching agreement.
