Examination Process. Applicants for promotion must successfully complete an examination process in order to be placed on a promotional eligibility list unless the number of applicants is three (3) or less and the Chief of Police deems that an examination is unnecessary to fill vacant positions. The examination process will be designed to measure the degree to which applicants possess skills needed at the higher rank. The weighting of each exercise in the promotional process shall be at the discretion of the Chief of Police and shall be indicated in the promotional announcement.
