Errors in Pay. If underpayments or overpayments made by SMCPS are discovered, SMCPS shall refund to the employee the balance of the actual amounts due or shall seek repayment from the employee of any amount paid in excess of the actual amount due and owed the employee, retroactive two fiscal years not including the current school year. Prior to initiation of recovery of overpayments, SMCPS shall provide the employee written notice and an opportunity to meet, at which time the employee can share any extenuating circumstances for consideration of alternative repayment options to those noted below. Options available for repayment shall be by: a. lump-sum cash repayment; b. adjustment of the corrected current salary or miscellaneous payroll deduction in a lump sum or in installments over a term not to exceed the term in which the erroneous payments were made;
