Engineer’s Estimate. Two independent sets of bridge quantity calculations will be prepared by individuals experienced in this work. The quantity calculations will be organized and detailed for use by field inspectors during construction. Standard Caltrans summary sheets will be used for bridge and road quantity calculations, aiding in facilitating the review process and use by the construction personnel. Bridge quantity estimators must agree within tolerances prescribed in Chapter 11 of the Caltrans Bridge Design Aids Manual. Any deviations will be resolved and the Marginal Estimate sheet will be prepared. Unit prices will be applied to each contract item resulting in the Engineer’s Estimate of Probable Construction Cost (Estimate). Prices used will be based on the latest available data from the County and Caltrans, reflecting the location of the project and the quantity of each item. The estimate will be segregated into two categories: roadway and bridge. Non-participating costs, if any, will also be segregated.
