Discards. The two Parties shall look into the problem of discards from fishing vessels and shall examine ways of making use of them. In an effort to curb illegal fishing activities in Mauritanian fishing zones which jeopardise fisheries management policy, the Parties agree to exchange information on these activities on a regular basis. In addition to the measures already applied by the two Parties under existing legislation, they shall consult one another on the possibility of taking supplementary joint or individual action. To this end, they shall step up cooperation, in particular on the fight against illegal fishing.
